Yes folks, I still have not received my California driver’s license photocard from the DMV. It’s been nearly six months since I passed my test at Fullerton DMV, and I’m still waiting patiently.
When I say patiently, I am actually starting to lose my rag a bit because it’s beyond a joke now. It’s made even more annoying because my dear brother-in-law who has only been in the USA since February passed and received his license within a two week period. So, clearly “verification of status” doesn’t need to take six months. I think I am well and truly jammed in the system.
So, I have upped the ante and written a letter to California DMV’s director – a Mr George Valverde – enclosing copies of all previous (unanswered) correspondence and politely asking him WTF is going on. Realistically I don’t expect him to reply to me, but my hope is that it gets passed to someone who will be made to give a shit about their job and who may actually sort this problem out.
If not, then I shall send another letter to Mr Valverde before further increasing the stakes and seeing what the Governator Mr Schwarzenegger (who appointed Mr Valverde) has to say on the matter.

Then the wait began, which saw me losing my patience and starting a letter campaign. My final throw of the dice was a letter to the DMV’s director. [...]
