For the past few months I have been partaking in hikes with the O.C. hiking club. Their website is part of meetup.com – a site where anyone with an interest can set a group or club which then allows others to find and join them.

My first was the “Anti-Gym HARDCORE Conditioning Hike at Turtle Rock with Edd” which truly lived up to its name. Despite the fast pace and inevitable huffing and puffing, I find myself going back twice a week for more punishment.

There’s a great core of regular hikers who turnout for this event, and I’m slowly finding them to be great people to hang with. Joining the club has been a great experience. I must have more of a rummage around at meetup.com and see if I can find anything else to tickle my fancy.
