To pee or not to pee

As a bloke, I and my blokey mates like nothing more than to discuss toilets and toilet activities. It must have been the way we were brought up.

Having moved to the USA, I have of course been forced to use public ‘restroom’ facilities on a number of occasions.

This Englishman has therefore had plenty of opportunity to give them the once-over and note some observations.

Aside from many drinking establishments having only one toilet ‘room’ per sex (what’s all that about? No bank of urinals? Are you uncivilised?), the biggest concern I have is the privacy of the stalls.

American restroom stallIn many ‘bathrooms’ the stall – or ‘trap’ as I like to call them – has respectively a high bottom-gap and low top-gap, meaning very little wood or metal to protect one’s dignity whilst taking a dump.

At 6′ 3″ I can quite easily see OVER a stall door/wall with little effort. Also, with the bottom-gap being so high it leaves little to the imagination about what shoes or trousers a guy is wearing.

The image in this post was taken in a Carl’s Junior in Barstow off the I-15 and illustrates my point perfectly. Ok, this one has a bit of spare space between the door and the crapper, but in Vegas I saw many that were just plain wrong, wrong, wrong.
