I sit at home this weekend with one more day to face at Darlington PCT.
After years of waiting for the day I can walk away, it’s a cat’s whisker away. I still don’t feel any real excitement but hopefully I will when I leave for the final time.
I had my ‘exit interview’ last Thursday with my line manager. The look on Sue’s face was a picture as she read my ramblings. You see, I had a form to complete asking me cheery questions such as “What did you like about the job?” (Answer: nothing) and “What would make you stay?” (Answer: nothing). I couldn’t just give one word answers, so felt obliged to be a bit more forthcoming. I found an opportunity with a question about what the PCT can do to make things better. Here are some of my highlights:
- Get strong leadership
- Remove incompetent people
- Performance manage people
- Teach basic English skills
- Develop a waste management policy
- Develop a transport policy
- Stop wasting money
I don’t suppose any of my points will be noticed, and even if human resources did take some time to read it they will just put it down to me being a miserable old sod. So be it.
With one day left in the NHS I don’t care.
