…and the whole country grinds to a halt.
Yup, we’re having a bit of snow as happens in winter. Whaddayaknow, it’s wall-to-wall news of reports on “travel chaos”. Public transport has been clobbered and scores of flights cancelled at Heathrow. Obviously.
Several points:
1. How can we not cope with a bit of snow? They can in Europe … and most of the rest of the world.
2. We are persistently warned to only make “essential journeys”. Well most people have to get to work. Is it ok to phone in and tell one’s boss that the police have said not to go to work. I’m sure they’ll love that.
3. What really grates are warnings not to go out unless it is “absolutely necessary”. If something is necessary it is already an absolute i.e. it is required. Therefore it doesn’t need to be decorated with an adverb. When has something every been referred to as “slighty” or “a bit” necessary? It’s either necessary or it’s not.
Anyway, I have to get to the dentist today and we need to take our Superbowl visitor to the station so he can get home. This should be fun.
Oh, and I’m annoyed because I had today off worked anyway. Doh.

I expect this category of your blog to fill up right quick!
Oh yes. You’d better believe it.
I went to british library at that time, and they were closed….. I was born and grown up in Korea, so didn’t understand why they were so scared of that much snow, but know now… everything’s Just In Case…….
